Substance Abuse

HHSI Substance Abuse Services include an Outpatient Group, individual therapy, and an Evening Intensive Outpatient Program.  All Substance Abuse Services are open to the public and all types of chemical dependency are treated.

The goal of the Substance Abuse Program is to educate clients on what it means to have a drug and/or alcohol addiction, to provide support and counseling to address addiction and to prevent relapse.

Outpatient Group & Individual Therapy
The therapy group offers an opportunity to share with peers, receive and give support and feedback, addresses issues and allows participants to be a part of a supportive community focused on recovery.

Participating in the program allows individuals to decrease isolation and develop a road map leading to a more fulfilled and satisfying life without substances.  The program is designed to promote recovery by helping participants learn more about their substance abuse issues, receive support in making necessary changes, and to develop tools and skills to help them abstain from using.

The program is open to adults with all types of chemical dependency including alcohol, illegal drugs and prescription medication. The program is voluntary and community-based, therefore court-ordered clients must agree to attend and to follow program guidelines.  The program includes periodic drug testing.  Most commercial insurances and private-pay are accepted.

Intensive Outpatient Services:
Provide specialized treatment to individuals whose needs cannot be met through weekly individual or group treatment alone.  Clients attend three days a week and participate in three hours of specialized group activities.  The curriculum is designed to be completed in 8-10 weeks.

Evening Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program
The intention of the program is to allow community members with primary substance abuse issues to continue working fulltime while undergoing treatment.

The Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program is an eight-week program providing nine hours of weekly treatment. The program meets three evenings per week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 7:40 and consists of two education groups and one therapy group each day.  All groups are facilitated by a HHSI staff member.

The education groups include handouts, lectures, video presentations and discussions that focus on the different aspects of substance abuse while promoting self awareness and skill development.  The therapy group offers an opportunity to share with peers, receive and give support and feedback.  The therapy group addresses issues and allows participants to be a part of a supportive community focused on recovery.
